May Hall loves to knit and the outfit she made for this little Disney mermaid Kelly shows just how a passion to create produces truely lovely work. Kelly dolls are tiny, standing just around 4" tall so you can imagine how tiny May's knitting stitches must be to keep the outfits sized right on the doll. May says that she uses size 0 knitting needles. To see more of May's work, which she sells on Ebay, check out her About Me page there. To the left is the Kelly as she bought from DNB. To the right is her lovely creation.

Award winning Canadian doll artist Charie Wilson took my 18" tall Lady Linda Doll by Mego and turned her into this gorgeous OOAK. She rerooted Lady Linda's hair with soft, curly, white mohair, repainted her face and her entire body, created a dazzling costume and even made her shoes and pantyhose. The cape is entirely edged with hand sewn seed beads. Be sure to click on the full view picture to see more pictures of Lady Linda's costume. Barbara Small of New York designed and created the beautiful outfits above. She tells how designing silk and velvet scarves lead her into designing Barbie haute couture. "I make middle to high end silk and silk velvet scarves and sell them mostly at craft shows and boutiques. I have probably made more than 5000 scarves and whenever there was a small piece of silk left I saved it. I have a lifetime supply for Barbie outfits and costumes. In addition to my own supply, friends in the fabric business know I rescue old Barbie dolls and they give me more beautiful pieces of small fabric. I have been saving for years and never knew why I was keeping it all. When I started working on Barbies, it all began to make sense. When my 3 year old niece showed me her Barbie dolls, I noticed that the sewing was coming apart and the fabrics used were very poor quality. I offered to repair all her dolls' outfits and realized that I should put the time into better fabric. The first gown I made was a white silk wedding dress with pearls and a veil. My niece loved it and that's how I got hooked on Barbie dolls." I think everyone would agree that Barbara's niece is one lucky little girl!

Customized bridal outfits for Ariel and Eric

You may have noticed from time to time that I depend on Eric for help in identifying my Disney dolls. It turns out that he not only is an expert in the subtle differences in all dolls Disney, he's a terrific pattern maker and customizer, and is expert in reproducing Disney outfits as the pictures above show.

Eric told me that the Eric outfit, on the male doll to the right, "... was supposed to be a prototype outfit. I make my own patterns so I always make a test outfit first. I ended up liking the first version so much I didn't even make the second one. The shoulder decorations are the biggest difference. The Ariel outfit is loosely based on the Pink Diamond fashion that was never produced."

Chamela Stevenson customized these Steffie faced dolls from dolls she bought from DNB. She rerooted their hair, painted their faces and designed and created their outfits. The brunette doll to the left was a Perfume Pretty Whitney and the Titian haired beauty to the right used to be a bushy haired Cool Times Midge. I think you'll agree that now they are really pretty.

"Hi Barb, I got the dolls yesterday. Thanks again. I would like to start another list already! You seem to have a doll I am interested in every time I'm at your website." from Cheryl B., Breckenridge, TX

Baby Kisses by Kelli Getchell Baby Kisses close up

From the look on this little cupid's face, I think her arrow hit the mark! Mischief and laughter is a-foot! Tammy Fuller of KS turned this contemporary Black Barbie doll into the most fashionable spear holding, knife wielding, Sabertooth tiger bejeweled native you'll ever find. Her choices of color are brilliant against the dark skin tone of the doll. With stick-straight hair before Tammy went to work on her, she now has long, shiny tendrils that any fashion savvy native would die for!
